The Regina Red Sox have added more depth to their pitching staff ahead of the upcoming WCBL season, signing Edgewood University right-handed pitchers Aiden Shumaker and Kris Hahn.
Shumaker, a senior from Chandler, Arizona, arrives in Regina in the midst of a strong 2026 season at the NCAA Division III level.
The 6-foot, 190-pound right-hander owns a 3-1 record with a 3.86 ERA through six starts, striking out 39 batters in 37.1 innings while issuing just 13 walks.
He is coming off an impressive outing on March 31 against Marian (Wis.), where he threw seven shutout innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out 10 in the victory.
Red Sox manager Rye Pothakos believes Shumaker can be a major piece of the rotation this summer.
“Shumaker will be a top-of-the-rotation arm that will give us an opportunity to win every time he takes the ball,” Pothakos said. “As a senior with a solid collegiate career, we look forward to his leadership and stability this summer.”
Hahn, a sophomore from Deerfield, Wisconsin, also joins the Red Sox after making five starts for Edgewood this season.
The 6-foot-1, 186-pound right-hander is 1-1 with a 9.86 ERA over 21 innings in 2026.
Despite a tougher start this season, Hahn put together a strong freshman campaign in 2025, going 3-1 with a 3.82 ERA in eight appearances, including a complete-game shutout.
Pothakos says Hahn will provide another reliable option in the starting staff.
“Hahn is another quality starter from Edgewood, where he has put up some solid numbers and is gaining valuable experience as their number two starter. Kris will add depth to our starting rotation and provide us with another quality option on the mound.”
With the additions of Shumaker and Hahn, the Red Sox continue to strengthen their rotation as they prepare for the 2026 WCBL season.
