CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 25 calls from April 2 to April 9, some of which included:
- one abandoned vehicle,
- one breach of peace,
- two frauds,
- two Mental Health Act calls,
- one person reported missing,
- four traffic collisions,
- 14 traffic offences, and
- one prisoner.
Truck hits ice, then ditch
On April 7, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 9 by the junction of Highway 229. Police investigated and learned a Ford F-150 slide into the ditch after hitting ice on the highway. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Funds missing from bank account
The Canora RCMP investigated a report on April 7 that a man’s bank account was compromised and over $10,000 was transferred out of his bank account. Investigation is ongoing.
Happy ending to missing person report
The Canora RCMP investigated a report of a missing person on April 6. The caller reported their mother had not returned home after being gone for the weekend. The missing person returned home on their own and further police involvement was not required.
Elderly woman a fraud victim
On April 2, the Canora RCMP investigated a report that $40,000 was fraudulently taken from an elderly woman. Police learned the money was taken after personal information was provided to an online scam. The investigation is ongoing.
