PIERCELAND — Two men have been charged following a shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation that left a pedestrian injured.
Pierceland RCMP say officers were called to the community at about 1:50 p.m. on April 8 after receiving a report of a shooting.
Police say a man was walking when a truck pulled up beside him. Two men inside the vehicle, armed with a firearm, discharged it, injuring the pedestrian before fleeing the scene.
The injured man was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Officers searched the area and located a vehicle matching the description outside a residence on Big Island Lake Cree Nation. Additional RCMP units, including a crime reduction team, traffic services and police dog services, assisted in the response.
Seven adults later exited the residence and were arrested. Police say two men have since been charged with discharge of a firearm with intent and aggravated assault. One of the accused also faces a charge of failing to comply with a release order.
The other occupants of the residence were released without charge.
RCMP continue to investigate.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
