March was a month to remember for Saskatchewan wheelchair curler Gilbert Dash.
The Kipling product was announced Monday as Sask Sport’s athlete of the month after helping Canada make history at the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Italy.
Dash and Team Canada put together a perfect 11-0 record on the way to winning the gold medal in wheelchair curling. The unbeaten run marked the first time a wheelchair curling team has gone undefeated in Paralympics history.
The historic performance capped a memorable start to the month for Dash, who later returned home to compete at wheelchair curling provincials in Saskatoon.
Dash and his team finished first with a 2-1 record, earning the right to represent Saskatchewan at nationals later this month.
