Ten Saskatchewan university football players have been named to Team West for the 2026 U SPORTS East-West Bowl.
Five players each from the University of Regina Rams and five from the University of Saskatchewan Huskies were selected for the annual showcase game, which will be played May 9 at the University of Waterloo’s Warrior Field.
The East-West Bowl features 107 of the top Canadian university football players eligible for the 2027 CFL Draft. The event gives athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Canadian Football League coaches, general managers and scouts.
The Huskies selections include receivers Daniel Kubongo and Dawson Lennea, defensive linemen Riece Kack and Reece McCormick, and defensive back Ethan Laing.
The Rams representatives are offensive lineman William Templeton, defensive lineman Toryn Swystun-Bernes, and defensive backs Max Polischuk, Jacob Tkachuk and Brandon Wong.
Saskatchewan will also be represented on the coaching staff, with Huskies head coach Scott Flory set to lead Team West along with offensive coordinator Mason Nyhus. Rams defensive line coach Kyle Stroeder will also head to Waterloo.
The coaching matchup will be a rematch of the 2025 Mitchell Bowl, with Queen’s Gaels head coach Steve Snyder leading Team East.
Team West is made up primarily of players from Canada West and select Ontario schools, while Team East features players from the AUS, RSEQ and the remaining OUA programs.
This year’s rosters include 12 All-Canadians and 25 conference all-stars from the 2025 season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
