WEYBURN — A domestic incident, a dog attack and a mischief were among the 81 calls for service for the Weyburn Police Service (WPS) during the week of April 5-12.
Police responded to a residence April 8 for a report of a domestic dispute. The WPS said an investigation determined that a man and woman had assaulted each other during an argument. The man was charged with assault causing bodily harm, and the woman was charged with assault. Both individuals were later released on conditions.
In other recent police news, while on foot patrol April 6, police spotted extensive damage to a city bench located south of the dog park. The WPS said obscene graffiti was also found on several city signs in the area and at a local business. The WPS said the investigation is ongoing.
Police received a report April 6 of a dog being attacked by two larger dogs that were running at large. The WPS said the injuries were severe and the dog later died. An investigation is ongoing. No charges have been laid at this time.
The WPS received a report April 9 of a man who had left a drinking establishment and could not be located by his partner, who was concerned due to the man’s medical conditions and his out-of-town residence. The WPS said police located the man walking on a highway and appeared to be heavily intoxicated. He was transported to the Weyburn hospital for assessment and, once medically cleared, lodged in police cells until sober.
