SASKATOON — The Correctional Service of Canada held a Change of Command Ceremony at the Regional Psychiatric Centre (RPC) Prairie Region on April 15, marking the transition of leadership from outgoing Warden Travis Boone to incoming Warden Matthew Gee.
According to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), the ceremony represents the formal passing of responsibility, authority, and accountability from one Warden to the next. CSC described it as an important tradition that reaffirms the incoming leader’s commitment to CSC’s core mission and the safety and security of the public, employees, and offenders.
“Over the years, Travis Boone has demonstrated unwavering leadership, professionalism, and commitment to staff, offenders, and public safety,” said Kathy Neil, Acting Regional Deputy Commissioner, Prairie Region. “His impact on the institution has been significant, and I am confident that he will continue to demonstrate these same values as he transitions to the Community sector. I am equally pleased to welcome Matthew Gee as the incoming Warden of RPC."
The Regional Psychiatric Centre, built in 1978 and located in Saskatoon, is a multi-level security facility that can accommodate up to 204 offenders. It employs about 371 people and provides educational, correctional, and Indigenous programs to offenders.
