It was announced on Tuesday that Canada will suspend the federal fuel excise tax on gasoline and diesel from April 20 to September 7 to help consumers and businesses deal with rising prices.
Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) president Bill Huber says it's good news, but it won't help the average farmer a great deal, because farm gas and diesel was already exempt.
However, he says it will help producers who get grain custom hauled.
He notes the federal fuel tax suspension will help out the R-M's themselves.
Fuel for graders and gravel trucks will now be exempt.
Huber adds a lot of producers ordered fuel before the price went up, as tensions mounted in the Middle East.
