REGINA — The case against a correctional officer at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre (RPCC) returned to court on April 13, where the matter was adjourned to April 27 to be spoken to.
Justin Amyotte, 44, was arrested in July 2025 and faces charges of conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance, breach of trust by a public officer, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
According to RCMP, their investigation started in September 2023 after White Butte RCMP received information about drugs being smuggled into the jail. At the time, a 36-year-old inmate was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and conspiracy. Investigators later identified a 35-year-old woman, believed to be an outside accomplice, who was helping procure and package drugs intended for an RPCC employee.
After executing multiple judicial authorizations, White Butte RCMP say they determined that Amyotte, a correctional officer, was involved in the smuggling operation.
