RM OF MANITOU – A man has been charged after approximately 140,000 illegal cigarettes were seized.
On April 19 at approximately 1 a.m., Cut Knife RCMP conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation on Highway 40 in the RM of Manitou.
Upon further investigation, officers located and seized approximately 140,000 illegal cigarettes in the SUV.
A 46-year-old man, from Edmonton, Alta., is charged with:
- one count, unlawfully possess tobacco for sale; and
- one count, possession of unstamped tobacco; and
- one count, possession of unmarked tobacco.
He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 20.
Maidstone RCMP’s Roving Traffic Unit also assisted in this investigation.
Cut Knife RCMP continue to investigate.
