Cargill's canola crush facility in Regina is now officially operational.
It's located at the Global Transportation Hub on the west side of the City.
The project began in 2022 and was supposed to open last fall, but was delayed due to construction challenges and economic factors.
Cargill says the facility has the capacity to process 1 million metric tonnes of canola annually and will serve producers across the province and into Western Manitoba.
The company also says the site is designed for efficiency, featuring dual receiving lanes, appointment scheduling, and streamlined logistics to support faster, more predictable deliveries for producers.
The facility will support more than 100 jobs in the region through full-time employees and contractors.
“This facility strengthens our ability to connect Canadian farmers to growing global demand for food and renewable fuels,” said Jeff Vassart, President of Cargill Canada in a news release. “By expanding processing capacity in Saskatchewan, we’re creating more opportunities for farmers while helping ensure Canada remains competitive in rapidly evolving global markets.”
Products made from the facility include oil for food, renewable fuels, and high-protein meal for animal feed.
Cargill two canola processing facilities in Clavet, Saskatchewan and in Camrose, Alberta.
