BIG RIVER FIRST NATION – Big River RCMP are investigating a firearm discharge on Big River First Nation.
Big River RCMP are looking to locate and confirm the well-being of a male allegedly involved in a firearm discharge on Big River First Nation.
On April 20 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Big River RCMP received a report of a firearm discharge on Big River First Nation.
The investigation determined an altercation occurred between a male and a female outside a residence. During the altercation, the male pointed a firearm at the female and later discharged it. Two individuals nearby approached to assist the female victim. The male suspect fled from the scene. The female victim and the assisting individuals did not report physical injuries to police.
Big River RCMP immediately responded, along with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team and Police Dog Services. Officers searched the surrounding area for the male suspect with the assistance of a police dog and a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System. At this time, the male suspect has not been located.
In relation to this investigation, 24-year-old Blaine Keenatch, from Big River First Nation, is charged with:
- one count, discharge firearm with intent;
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- two counts, weapons possession contrary to order;
- one count, assault with a weapon;
- one count, assault; and
- one count, pointing a firearm.
A warrant has been issued for Blaine Keenatch’s arrest. Big River RCMP believe Keenatch may be injured as a result of the altercation. As such, Big River RCMP are asking the public for help in locating him to confirm his well-being.
Blaine Keenatch is described as:
- Height: 5’11”
- Weight: 180 lbs.
- Eye colour: brown
- Hair colour and style: brown
- Other descriptors: lettering and numbers tattooed on both his hands
