REGINA — A 22-year-old man is facing charges following a break and enter at an apartment complex under construction in the city’s southeast early Monday, an incident that ended with a police dog biting the suspect during his arrest.
Regina Police Service patrol officers and a canine unit were dispatched to the 1700 block of Neville Drive at approximately 2:30 a.m. on April 20, after a security company monitoring remote cameras reported seeing a man entering the unfinished building.
Officers observed the suspect exit the building. He didn’t comply with police demands, hopped the fence and fled through an adjacent parking lot.
A Police Service Dog (PSD) was deployed and helped bring the suspect into custody. During the arrest, the PSD bit the suspect. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries consistent with a dog bite.
The man was charged with break and enter.
He appears in Regina Provincial Court on June 2.
