SASKATCHEWAN — As Saskatchewan hunkers down for another cold and wet blast, there are roads the Highway Hotline has deemed not recommended for travel.
Areas around and north of Prince Albert are not recommended for travel, reporting slush, ice, and swirling snow. In the Melfort-Tisdale area, roads are covered, and also seeing swirling loose snow, slush and ice.
Areas around Lloydminster are also not recommended for travel.
Road conditions around Yorkton and Melville are slushy and around the Battlefords drivers are experiencing swirly, loose and drifting snow.
In the north, roads between La Ronge and Buffalo Narrows are not recommended for travel as well as around Pelican Narrows and Flin Flon. Highways 102 and 905 from north of McLennan Lake to Stony Rapids are also not recommended for travel and in some places are seeing heavy snow..
These road conditions are resulting from a spring storm moving into the province.
In some areas, an orange-level snowfall warns of a long period of heavy snow expected April 22-25. Total amounts of 30-50 centimetres are expected by the weekend.
Check the Highway Hotline before venturing out.
