CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 26 calls from April 16 to 23, some of which included:
- one 911 Act call,
- one assault,
- two animal calls,
- one assault causing bodily harm,
- one assault with a weapon,
- one breach of peace,
- one break and enter,
- two Coroners Act calls,
- one failure to comply with conditions,
- three false alarms,
- one Mental Health Act call,
- one mischief under $5,000,
- one person reported missing,
- one sexual assault,
- two suspicious persons,
- one traffic collision,
- one traffic offence,
- two uttering threats,
- one wellbeing check, and
- three prisoners.
Inebriated man makes threats
On April 21, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report that an intoxicated man at a business in Preeceville was falling over. The man was taken to Hospital by EMS. Police went to the hospital and learned the man was on conditions not to consume alcohol. The man was arrested for failing to comply with conditions of a release order. During the arrest the man threatened to harm his family and the police officer. The man was charged with uttering threats and failure to comply with release order conditions, and remanded into custody.
Man stabbed, woman charged
The Canora RCMP were dispatched on April 21 to a report that a man had been stabbed at a residence in Canora. Police went to the home and located a man with multiple stab wounds. The man was treated on scene by EMS for non-life threatening injuries. A 27-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. The woman was held in custody.
Bogus gunshot report
The Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report that a home in Canora had been shot up during the night on April 21. Police went to the home and investigated. Police determined there were no gunshots or damage to the home caused by a firearm.
Residential assault
On April 17, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report of a disturbance inside a residence in Canora. Police went to the home and learned a man had assaulted a woman. The man was arrested for assault and released on conditions to have no contact with the woman.
