CLEEVES — Loon Lake conservation officers are asking for the public's assistance after a call through the Saskatchewan Turn In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) Line regarding piles of fish carcasses that were dumped in the ditch, approximately 1 1/2 kilometres east of Cleeves.
According to a post on the Sasktip Facebook page, officers believe the carcasses were dumped between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on April 17. The dumping of fish carcasses is unlawful under The Wildlife Regulations, as they attract dangerous wildlife in an area frequented by people.
The Sasktip post said the animals pose a safety concern to area residents, their livestock and property. Also, this improper disposal is also considered littering, and these materials should be disposed of properly in garbage receptacles.
A cash reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the individual(s) involved. Anyone with information should call the toll-free TIPP line at 1-800-667-7561. Calls are not traced or recorded, and caller information is kept confidential. Callers can choose to remain anonymous.
SaskToday will have updates as they become available.
