Police seize crack cocaine in drug raid in Wollaston Lake

WOLLASTON LAKE – Wollaston Lake RCMP charge male after seizing 59 grams of crack cocaine.

Wollaston Lake RCMP officers stopped 59 grams of crack cocaine from entering their detachment area.

On April 27, Wollaston Lake RCMP determined an individual planned to bring illicit drugs into the community of Wollaston Lake.

Officers located the individual, an adult male, as they arrived in the community. He provided a false name to police. Investigation determined he also was carrying documentation with the false name.

He was arrested. Officers located approximately 59 grams of crack cocaine in his belongings.

As a result of continued investigation, a 19-year-old man, from Saskatoon, is charged with:

– one count, possession – cocaine;

– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine;

– one count, obstruct peace officer;

– one count, identity fraud; and

– two counts, fail to comply with probation order.

“Wollaston Lake RCMP are committed to keeping our community safe. Part of this is making sure dangerous items – like illicit drugs – don’t enter our detachment area,” said Sgt. Robert Gatenby from the Wollaston Lake RCMP, in the news release. “A seizure of 59 grams of crack cocaine may not be a big seizure in a large city, but it means significant harm reduction in a small, remote community like ours. We’ll continue proactively working to keep drugs out.”
