LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. — A 38-year-old man arrested following a carjacking less than a week ago has been granted bail after appearing in Lloydminster Provincial Court on May 4.
Christopher Luipersbeck is scheduled to return to court on June 1 for election.
According to Lloydminster RCMP, Luipersbeck, armed with a weapon, assaulted the victim and stole his vehicle on April 29.
A few hours later, Lloydminster RCMP located the stolen vehicle near 36 Street and 52 Avenue in Lloydminster. Police conducted a coordinated traffic stop and arrested Luipersbeck, still driving the stolen vehicle.
Lloydminster RCMP had assistance from Alberta RCMP’s Real Time Operation Centre (RTOC). The RTOC, which operates around the clock out of Edmonton K Division headquarters, tracks suspects in real time and provides officers on the ground instant support during emergency situations.
Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section and RCMP Police Dog Services also assisted in the investigation.
