REGINA — A Regina man accused of a six-year string of break-ins across Saskatchewan has been sentenced to 4.7 years in prison.
Michael Arsenault, 57, was arrested earlier this year by Saskatchewan RCMP after a lengthy investigation.
In May 2025, Saskatchewan RCMP’s South District section dedicated an investigative team and launched a broader investigation into a series of property crimes reported across the district. Investigators identified 74 reports of break-ins they believed to be connected. These reports occurred in 43 communities and the surrounding areas in southern Saskatchewan between September 2019 and February 2026.
Police say approximately $50,000 in cash was stolen during that period. Other stolen items included debit/credit cards, gift cards, alcohol, antique coins, and other various items. The type of buildings broken into included, but are not limited to, local businesses, town offices, post offices, community centres, and more.
Arsenault was charged with 62 counts of break and enter, 12 counts of attempted break and enter with intent, possession of property valued under $5,000 obtained by crime, and possession of property valued over $5,000 obtained by crime.
At his sentencing in Regina Provincial Court on April 23, a stay of proceedings was entered on several of the charges.
