The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation has returned more than $5 million to communities across Saskatchewan over the past year, including $3.3 million invested directly into amateur football programs across the province.
The Foundation announced the milestone this week, highlighting support for initiatives including scholarships for Indigenous students, the Northern Saskatchewan Football League and expanded funding for KidSport.
According to the Foundation, the funding is helping provide young athletes with access to football programs, equipment and development opportunities in communities throughout Saskatchewan. That support also included delivering branded flag football kits to 700 schools across the province.
Beyond football, the Foundation says its Rider Reading and Win With Wellness programs continued to reach schools and communities province-wide.
Over the past year, representatives from the Foundation visited 181 schools and engaged more than 45,000 youth through in-person programming.
The Rider Reading initiative delivered 878 presentations, reaching 21,648 students with literacy-focused programming aimed at building confidence through reading.
Meanwhile, the Win With Wellness mental wellness program delivered 430 presentations to more than 24,000 students, focusing on mental health, physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices.
Foundation officials said staff travelled more than 26,000 kilometres over the past year to bring programming to communities across Saskatchewan.
“These numbers represent far more than statistics. They reflect real moments of impact,” said Foundation board chair Craig Reynolds in a release. “Whether it’s a young student discovering a love for reading, building confidence through football, or learning the importance of mental wellness, we are proud to stand alongside communities across Saskatchewan.”
Executive director Cindy Fuchs said the Foundation remains focused on creating opportunities for youth through sport, literacy and wellness programming.
The Roughrider Foundation says it plans to continue investing in programs designed to support youth development and accessibility in communities throughout the province.
