Shortly before 12 a.m. on May 5, members of the Crime Reduction Team, with assistance from the Tactical Support and Canine Units, conducted enforcement action in a drug trafficking investigation by initiating the arrest of the suspect. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by a police service dog in the area of Muzyka Road and Lucyk Crescent. He was taken to the police cells where he was examined by the on-duty paramedic and treated for minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.
Police then executed a search warrant in the Willowgrove area, in the 100 block of Padget Crescent. Officers seized $14,235 CAD, 235 counterfeit $100 Canadian bills, 4,824 grams of cocaine, six cell phones, a vacuum sealer, digital scales, and assorted paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
As a result, the 28-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of counterfeit currency, and possession of property obtained through proceeds of crime.
