SASKATOON — A 38-year-old Saskatoon man is facing numerous charges after a stolen vehicle struck three other vehicles and then fled from police on Thursday afternoon.
At about 1 p.m. on May 7, police received a report of a vehicle that had been stolen from the area of 33rd Street West and Avenue H North. The caller also reported that the stolen vehicle had been observed colliding with three other vehicles while driving in the area.
Responding officers located the vehicle at 33rd Street West and Avenue B North where a traffic stop was attempted. The driver of the vehicle didn’t stop for police and evaded at a high rate of speed. Police immediately disengaged from the evade police incident while maintaining visual contact with the vehicle until it was observed entering a parking lot in the 3800 block of Idylwyld Drive North where the driver was arrested without further incident. Police say it is believed he was under the influence of an intoxicant. Further investigation found that the suspect had also stolen several items from the victims.
As a result, the suspect has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public, evading police, failing to comply with a demand, impaired driving, theft under $5000, three counts of hit and run, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
