NORTH BATTLEFORD — A 22-year-old man from Turtleford faces several charges, including sexual assault and abduction, after a missing teenage girl was found in a locked bathroom of a motel room with serious injuries.
On April 25, at 6 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a missing female teenager. Initial investigation led officers to a motel room in North Battleford, where a man was located. Officers searched the motel room and found the missing teenager in a locked bathroom with injuries described as serious.
Deland (Nipin) Okanee, from Turtleford, is charged with sexual assault, abduction of a person under 16, sexual interference, forcible confinement, assault, obstructing justice, and uttering threats.
He will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 22
