THUNDERCHILD FIRST NATION — Saskatchewan RCMP have arrested four people and are searching for two more suspects following an armed robbery on Thunderchild First Nation that led to a police chase and a rollover north of North Battleford.
Police were called to a home on the First Nation at about 3:15 p.m. on May 9, after reports of a robbery involving a firearm. According to Turtleford RCMP, three suspects arrived in a car and a truck, assaulted a resident, and stole an ATV. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Officers made patrols of the area and they located and arrested a 25-year-old man on Thunderchild First Nation.
Turtleford RCMP Detachment called in the Lloydminster Crime Reduction Team (CRT), and part of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT), to assist with locating the outstanding suspects.
At approximately 5:50 p.m., officers with Lloydminster CRT and Turtleford RCMP located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect car near Thunderchild First Nation. Officers activated their vehicle’s lights and sirens. The driver fled from police. Officers followed the car.
Approximately 30 kilometres north of North Battleford, on Highway 794 near the Highway 4 intersection, officers observed the car leave the road and roll. Officers arrested the driver and three occupants – one man and three women – without incident.
One occupant was taken to hospital as a precaution. They were later released into RCMP custody. During a search of the car, officers located and seized multiple knives, a sword, approximately 4.2 grams of cocaine, and 1.2 grams of methamphetamine.
During a search of the driver, police found keys to a vehicle that had previously been reported as stolen. Their investigation determined the four individuals weren’t involved in the initial armed robbery.
Kade Schacher, 22, from Lloydminster, Sask., is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, flight from police, dangerous driving, and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Charlene Wright, 37, Tanis Nicotine, 31, and Sommer Thunderchild, 27, all from Lloydminster, Sask., are charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
All four are scheduled to appear in St. Walburg Circuit Court on June 2.
As a result of further investigation, Rocky Wuttunnee, 25, of Lloydminster, Alta., is charged with robbery with a firearm. He appears in Lloydminster Provincial Court on June 2.
Two more wanted
Turtleford RCMP is seeking to locate two additional suspects believed to be involved in the initial armed robbery. The public is asked to report sightings and information on the whereabouts of 22-year-old Dimetre Paskimin and 29-year-old Phoenix Standingwater. Warrants have been issued for their arrest.
They are each charged with charged with robbery with a firearm. Paskimin is also charged with using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence, and assault with a weapon.
Paskimin is about 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
Standingwater is about 6-foot-4 and 165 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He also has a star and crown tattoo on his right cheek, and a teardrop tattoo under his left eye.
