MOOSE JAW — Superintendent Taylor Mickleborough has been reinstated to the Moose Jaw Police Service with full salary and benefits, nearly two years after he was dismissed by the service’s former chief.
Moose Jaw Police Service Chief of Police, Robert Davis, issued a media release Thursday advising the public that the 25-year member’s reinstatement is effective this month. The specific details of the reinstatement will remain confidential for reasons of privacy that all employees are legally entitled to expect, the release stated.
The release also stated the Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners is thankful to legal counsel on both sides of the issue for their attention and due diligence, and their support for Chief Davis in resolving a long outstanding legal issue that predates the current chief and membership of the board.
Superintendent Mickleborough was dismissed on Sept. 30, 2024, by then Chief of Police Rick Bourassa, under s. 60 of the Police Act. According to Thursday’s release, Superintendent Mickleborough, who had served for approximately 25 years as a sworn member of the Moose Jaw Police Service without any record of discipline, appealed his dismissal under s. 61 of that Police Act.
The decision to reinstate Superintendent Mickleborough negates the need for a public hearing.
More to come.
