REGINA — A 16-year-old student has been charged in relation to making threats involving Michael A. Riffel Catholic High School.
Regina’s Police Service (RPS) received a report on Wednesday at approximately 4:25 p.m. of a student at the school making threats of bringing a firearm on the site.
Officers located the suspect, who was arrested on the scene.
The youth cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He has been charged with uttering threats and is due for his first court appearance in Regina Youth Provincial Court on Thursday.
Additionally, a 38-year-old male, who cannot be identified due to giving away the name of the youth, has been charged with careless storage of the firearm.
He will make his first appearance on this charge in Regina Provincial Court on June 17, 2026.
In an email response, the Regina Catholic School Division confirmed classes have resumed at the school on Thursday as normal.
