REGINA — The University of Regina is excited to welcome 14 new Chancellor’s Scholars from across Saskatchewan and British Columbia to campus this fall. This marks the third year of the Chancellor’s Scholarship program, which is generously supported by donors who believe strongly in attracting a future generation of exceptional leaders to the University of Regina.
“Recipients of the Chancellor’s Scholarship demonstrate two of the most important qualities of leadership – they are passionate about strengthening community and driven by curiosity and a hunger for learning,” said Cadmus Delorme, Chancellor of the University of Regina. “It is my distinct pleasure to welcome them to campus where they will pursue their academic dreams over the next four years with full University support, while developing their leadership skills and enhancing our communities.”
Chancellor’s Scholarships are worth $40,000 each and include leadership programming, academic mentoring, on-campus housing for the Scholars’ first year, and more, all thanks to the vision and generosity of the Chancellor’s Scholarship donors.
“The Chancellor’s Scholarship will benefit my studies by taking away the financial stress and worry of student debt, which allows me to put my full focus on my education and make the most of my university experience,” said Walker Strueby, who is graduating from Vanier Collegiate in Moose Jaw and will begin his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Regina as a 2026 Chancellor’s Scholar this fall.
“I chose to pursue education because I have seen the impact teachers and coaches in a high school setting can have on a student’s life,” Strueby added. “The teachers and coaches I had the pleasure of learning from throughout my time at Vanier Collegiate helped shape me into who I am today. And, with both of my parents completing Education degrees at the University of Regina, schools and the education setting have been positive constants in my life for as long as I can remember.”
Strueby is an athlete, entrepreneur, and community supporter. He owns MJ Auto Detailing which he started in July 2025 and has detailed over 100 vehicles, in addition to competing in basketball, volleyball, and track and field throughout high school, and refereeing hockey games.
Meet the full 2026 cohort of recipients and future leaders!
“This fall, these 14 high-achieving new Chancellor’s Scholars will follow in the footsteps of their predecessors from two outstanding cohorts, as they pursue their academic ambitions in a wide
range of disciplines, from Science to Education, Nursing, and Art,” said Jeff Keshen, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Regina. “I look forward to seeing how they enrich campus life and grow into the community-minded leaders our world needs.”
“The Chancellor’s Scholarship program supports the University’s vision to be a research-intensive university distinguished by teaching excellence that is connected to real-world challenges,” said Marc Butikofer, Executive Director, University Advancement. “Donating to the Chancellor’s Scholarships program is an impactful way to attract the future generation of exceptional leaders for our city, province and country.”
