Coopertown revised plan
A new plan for Coopertown has been brought forward by its developers, Dream.
Council first approved the neighbourhood plan in 2018, but this new one addresses the need for a joint-use school.
As for its local population, the plan states the neighbourhood could see upwards of 5,408 residents if over 2,000 units are built.
Dream also intends to build a 6.5-hectare neighbourhood park, which will include an athletic field, accessible play area and other features.
Return-to-office
Ward 10 Coun. Clark Bezo has put forward a motion intending for all city positions designated as either in-office or hybrid to return to full-time work downtown by Aug. 21.
The motion was initially scheduled for May 6 but was delayed due to a lengthy debate over Brandt’s purchase of city assets.
Bezo aims to boost downtown vibrancy while increasing transit ridership.
If approved, the motion would also direct city administration to report back on any financial impacts exceeding $250,000 resulting from the move.
Infrastructure protection
Following recent incidents involving trucks striking overpasses in Saskatoon, Bezo wants the City of Regina to work with the City of Saskatoon and the province to help protect Regina’s infrastructure from similar external damage, per a motion he will table.
A proposed collaboration would involve legislative, regulatory and bylaw authorities reviewed for any changes.
Such changes could see fines increasing and cost-recovery options for the city.
If approved, administration would report back on their findings, including improvements and policy changes in late 2026.
All motions will be debated for approval starting at 1 p.m. inside Henry Baker Hall.
