SASKATOON — A pair of police pursuits over the long weekend has resulted in charges against three people, after officers say two separate vehicles fled attempts to stop them in Saskatoon.
Police say the first incident happened at approximately 8:15 p.m., May 15, officers observed a grey Toyota Corolla known to be stolen at the intersection of 19th Street West and Ave T South. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed before striking another vehicle at the intersection of 22nd Street West and Avenue K North. The suspect vehicle rolled onto its roof and the two occupants were taken into custody without further incident.
A 17-year-old female and a 24-year-old man were both charged with possession of stolen property valued over $5,000. The female faces additional charges of dangerous driving and evading police.
The second incident occurred on May 18. At approximately 4:15 p.m., patrol officers attempted to stop a grey Chrysler Pacifica in the 400 block of Avenue X South after investigation showed the license plate did not match the vehicle. The vehicle fled, but the Saskatoon Police Air Support Unit followed it to Duck Lake, SK where the occupants stopped and were seen getting into another vehicle. Shortly before 7 p.m., members of the RCMP took three occupants into custody.
A 30-year-old man was taken to SPS Detention and is charged with evading police, dangerous driving, and two counts of driving while prohibited.
