SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan Party has a second candidate ready to run in the next provincial election.
The party confirmed that Ken Cheveldayoff is running again in Saskatoon Willowgrove. In a news release Thursday afternoon, the party stated Cheveldayoff would be acclaimed that evening at a nomination meeting at the Sutherland Hall.
Premier Scott Moe was scheduled to be the guest speaker at that meeting. Moe himself was the first Sask Party candidate to be nominated for the next election, running again in Rosthern-Shellbrook.
The party says more nominations will continue to be scheduled throughout this year. At their convention last fall, party officials had indicated they are looking to get a early jump on nominations to be better prepared to win back seats in the next election.
Cheveldayoff, who is Minister of Advanced Education in the Moe government, will be the first Sask Party candidate for 2028 to be officially nominated for a seat in both Saskatoon and urban Saskatchewan.
He is the longest serving MLA in the legislature, having first been elected in 2003.
