PRINCE ALBERT — A three‑vehicle collision in the parking lot of the Art Hauser Centre Tuesday evening left one person with minor injuries and prompted a renewed safety warning from the Prince Albert Police Service.
The Prince Albert Police Service responded on May 21, at approximately 6:20 p.m. Officers attended the south parking lot adjacent to 6th Avenue East and located a white sedan with significant front-end damage. Two parked vehicles also sustained substantial damage as a result of the collision. All three vehicles were not driveable and had to be towed from the scene.
Police say their investigation determined the driver of the white sedan was travelling at a high rate of speed through the parking lot when control of the vehicle was lost while attempting a turn, causing the vehicle to strike the parked vehicles. The driver was issued a ticket under The Traffic Safety Act for driving without due care and attention.
One individual who had been seated in the box of the parked vehicle at the time of the collision sustained minor injuries and was assessed by Parkland Ambulance at the scene. No serious injuries were reported.
As warmer weather is now here and more residents gather in parking lots, recreational areas, and public spaces, the Prince Albert Police Service is reminding drivers to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Excessive speed, careless driving, and dangerous maneuvers in parking lots place our community at significant risk.
The Prince Albert Police Service says they will continue to proactively monitor and enforce traffic safety concerns throughout the summer months as to ensure the safety of all residents.
