ESTEVAN — Members of the Estevan Police Service were called to a hotel May 22 regarding a report of a man uttering threats.
As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old Estevan man was arrested and charged. According to the Estevan Police Service, he was intoxicated and was lodged in cells to be released on conditions once sober. He will appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date to speak to the charge.
That same day, police received a report of an individual taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent. Members located the vehicle and arrested a 45-year old Estevan woman for taking an automobile without consent. She was subsequently released and will appear in court at a later date to speak to the matter.
Members attended to a local business to keep the peace while a former employee collected their belongings.
Officers dealt with a 37-year-old Estevan woman twice during night shift. The EPS said she was intoxicated and was eventually transported by taxi to her residence and cautioned that any further contact with police would result in her being arrested for public intoxication. No further issues were reported.
The EPS received a mischief to property report May 23 from the Hillcrest area. Police reported a residence and nearby vehicles had eggs thrown at them. The matter is under investigation. Police ask the public to report suspicious people or vehicles when observed. Anyone that may have information related to this occurrence is asked to call the EPS at 306-634-4767.
Police received a report of an all-terrain vehicle being operated within city limits. It was stuck south of the Valleyview area. The EPS said members had a separate occurrence involving an ATV earlier and believe it likely was the same vehicle. The matter is under investigation.
The EPS received a request for a well-being check on an adult and children believed to be staying in Estevan. The EPS said they were located and determined to be safe and well.
Police were called to a disturbance involving several residents in the Hillside area. The EPS said the matter was temporarily resolved through mediation but members were called back a second time for a similar disturbance. The parties were separated for the night to prevent any further disputes.
Police received a request from a local hotel to remove an individual. Members attended, and the EPS said a 43-year-old woman from Ontario was sent on her way and advised that she was no longer welcome at the property.
A 911 call was received in which the line was open but the caller did not respond to the 911 operator before hanging up. The phone was geo-located and members attended, but were unable to locate anyone in distress. The EPS said the call was believed to be a pocket dial at the conclusion of the investigation.
The EPS reminds the public that in the event of an accidental dialing of 911, stay on the line and answer any questions the operator may have to limit the requirement for police to investigate further.
The EPS received several reports May 24 of a man walking in traffic and acting strangely. The EPS said members located him and sent him on his way. No further calls for service regarding the individual were received.
A report came in of a man in a drop-off bin at a local business was received. According to the EPS, members located the man and advised him that he was not allowed to remove items from the bin. He was also sent on his way.
