LLOYDMINSTER — Charges have been withdrawn against a 40-year-old woman who was accused of stealing more than $130,000 in cash from an ATM in Lloydminster.
Mandy Bredlaw, 40, was arrested earlier this year and charged with break and enter, mischief over $5,000, and theft over $5,000. At the time of her arrest, she was also wanted on 26 outstanding warrants in Calgary.
According to Lloydminster RCMP, the ATM theft occurred on Dec. 29, 2024. Officers responded around 10 a.m. to a report of a break-and-enter near 39 Avenue and 50 Street on the Alberta side of the border city.
Investigators determined the machine had been forcibly accessed and more than $130,000 in cash had been stolen. Damage and replacement costs for the ATM were estimated at nearly $30,000. The investigation included canvassing nearby businesses for video surveillance and obtaining numerous judicial authorizations. Through their investigation, officers said they ultimately identified Bredlaw as the suspect.
Alberta court records reveal that Bredlaw was charged with breaking into the Royal Bank, stealing cash from the ATM, and damaging the room door and safe door of the ATM. All of these charges have now been withdrawn. When the Crown withdraws charges, they discontinue the prosecution, and those same charges can never be brought back before the court.
Bredlaw still faces charges in a Calgary court. In May, a warrant was issued for her arrest after she failed to appear in court.
