REGINA — A 28-year-old man from Calgary is facing human trafficking charges following a complex, multi-agency investigation, Regina Police Service.
The investigation, dubbed ‘Project Anchor,’ began in December 2025 when Regina Police Service investigators received information about a female victim being trafficked in the sex trade. An investigation showed the victim had been trafficked throughout western Canada, including in Regina. These offences are believed to have occurred between December 2023, and November 2025.
Investigators from the Regina Police Service Vice Unit worked with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Human Trafficking Enforcement Unit to investigate, locate and arrest the suspect. On May 20, Abdoulaye GAdjiko, a resident of Calgary, Alberta, was arrested and charged in relation to this case. Over 30 officers with the two Alberta agencies were involved in the arrest and subsequent search of four residences, one business and a vehicle. All were located in Calgary, AB. The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) also assisted in the investigation.
In addition to the assistance from partner agencies, multiple Regina Police Service investigative units and civilian professionals contributed to the six-month project.
Abdoulaye Gadijko is charged with:
· Human Trafficking;
· Material Benefit Resulting from Trafficking;
· Procuring;
· Material Benefit from Sexual Services;
· Advertising Sexual Services;
· Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5,000;
· Money Laundering; and
· Failure to Comply with Conditions.
“Human Trafficking investigations are extremely complex. most often cross borders and require extensive collaboration between agencies,” said Deputy Chief of Police Laurel Marshall. “First and foremost, it’s about ensuring victims are safe and helping them break free from their traffickers. I am proud of the work being done by everyone involved in ‘Project Anchor’.”
