SASKATOON — A small aircraft made an emergency landing on Tuesday, May 26, along Lutheran Road in the Rural Municipality of Corman Park.
The incident was reported at around 6 p.m., and the Corman Park Police Service and the RCMP responded to a possible plane crash in the vicinity of Lutheran Road near Range Road 3072.
NAV CANADA’s Saskatoon Control Tower made the initial report of the incident involving the aircraft, which may be a two-seater.
The first officers to arrive at the scene saw that the aircraft had not crashed but had run out of fuel, resulting in a complete loss of engine power.
Despite the loss of fuel, which forced an emergency landing, the pilot managed to steer the aircraft onto the open road.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The aircraft landed safely on the road, with no damage to the aircraft or surrounding infrastructure.
The aircraft's owner attended the scene with fuel. Once refuelled, the aircraft resumed flight and returned safely to its departure airport.
CPPS notified the Transportation Safety Board of the incident.
