PRINCE ALBERT — A 31-year-old man is facing several charges after police say he struck a pedestrian in a commercial parking lot and fled the scene, only to later turn himself in at police headquarters.
Prince Albert Police Service say they responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the parking lot of a business in the 1600 block of 2nd Avenue West on May 27, at approximately 6 p.m. The initial information was the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.
Responding officers located a 40-year-old woman who had a serious but non-life-threatening injury as a result of the collision. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
Information gathered as part of the initial response assisted officers in identifying the suspect vehicle and obtaining a description of the driver. As officers were searching for the vehicle involved in the collision, the man came to the Prince Albert Police Service in the suspect vehicle and claimed responsibility for the incident. The male was arrested and his vehicle was seized. He has been charged with aggravated assault, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failing to remain at the scene of an accident-causing bodily harm and appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on May 28.
