SASKATOON — Police arrested a 21-year-old man, with help from the Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit (ASU), after he tried to evade them on a motorcycle in the city’s east side late Thursday night.
At around 11:30 p.m. on May 27, police observed a man riding a motorcycle with no license plate in the area of 8th Street and Clarence Avenue. Officers also observed the driver disobey numerous red lights on Broadway Avenue.
Officers initiated a traffic stop as the motorcycle was being parked in the 600 block of 10th Street but the driver began to drive away at a high rate of speed through a residential area. The Air Support Unit (ASU) was able monitor the motorcycle as it continued at a high rate of speed before parking on Mallin Crescent and entering a nearby residence.
The driver was arrested shortly after. Officers learned the motorcycle wasn’t registered and charged him with dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. The motorcycle has been impounded for 30 days
