REGINA — A Regina man is facing charges after police say he waved a machete around and threatened to stab a man.
Regina police say at approximately 4 p.m. on May 29, they received multiple calls saying a man was outside a business in northwest Regina, in the 4200 block of Rochdale Boulevard waving a machete around. One caller reported the suspect threatened to stab him before the suspect left in a taxi with a female.
Officers followed the taxi to the area of Britton Bay where they initiated a traffic stop. The two passengers, a female and the male suspect, exited the taxi. The male suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Officers searched the suspect, subsequent to arrest, and located a machete tucked into the waistband of his shorts.
A 35-year-old man has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon.
