SASKATOON — A Saskatoon man will stand trial on drug trafficking and weapons offences. On May, 25, Chad Mason’s charges were sent to Saskatoon Court of King’s Bench on May 25 and a trial date will be set.
Mason, 38, was arrested earlier this year after the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF), supported by the Saskatoon Police Service Tactical Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on 8th Street East in Saskatoon as part of an ongoing drug-trafficking investigation.
Police say they seized approximately 231 grams of fentanyl, 115 grams of methamphetamine, more than 40 opioid pills, a firearm, ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash. Six people were arrested at the home.
Later the same day, investigators executed a second search warrant at a residence on Goodrich Street in Radisson. Officers located a sawed-off firearm, a handgun, ammunition and two firearm magazines.
Mason was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine, fentanyl, and opioid), and approximately 24 firearms related offences, as well as two counts of failing to comply with release order conditions, and possession of property less than $5,000 obtained by crime.
The five other individuals who were initially arrested were later released from police custody without charge.
