Offence was the story across the Western Canadian Baseball League on Tuesday night, as 56 runs and 67 hits were combined across three games.
Saskatoon Berries 11, Regina Red Sox 10
The Regina Red Sox nearly erased an early nine-run deficit but came up just short in an 11-10 loss to the visiting Saskatoon Berries.
Saskatoon jumped out to a 10-1 lead, highlighted by a third-inning grand slam from Nash Nichols.
Gael Salinas paced the Berries offensively with three hits as Saskatoon improved to 4-1 and moved into top spot in the East Division.
Regina's comeback began in the fifth inning with a two-run home run from Brady Bye, followed by a two-run single from Justin Simard in the sixth.
Bye finished 3-for-6 at the plate, while Simard continued his hot start to the season, going 4-for-5.
Diego Quinonez earned the win, allowing five runs on seven hits over five innings. Tanner Hosick worked the final one and two-thirds innings to record his first save of the season.
The Berries return home Thursday to face Moose Jaw, while the Red Sox host the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Currie Field.
Weyburn Beavers 8, Moose Jaw Miller Express 1
The Weyburn Beavers built a 5-1 lead through three innings and never looked back, defeating the Moose Jaw Miller Express 8-1 for their second straight victory.
Joe Madill led the offence, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. Jared Kramp added three RBIs, including a two-run double in the ninth inning.
Logan Lynch picked up the win, allowing just one run on four hits over six innings while striking out two.
Pacey Phillips recorded a pair of doubles for Moose Jaw, which fell to 2-2 on the season.
The Beavers return to Ross Wells Park on Wednesday night for a rematch with the Miller Express.
Medicine Hat Mavericks 24, Swift Current 57's 1
The Medicine Hat Mavericks erupted for 25 hits in a dominant 24-1 win over the Swift Current 57's at Mitchell Field.
Medicine Hat broke the game open with a nine-run third inning and added six more runs in the eighth. The Mavericks finished with 12 extra-base hits, including home runs from Josh Stark and Blake Dale.
Dale, Evan Morrison and Eric Calder each added a pair of doubles in the offensive outburst.
Derek Archer earned the win, allowing one run on three hits over five innings while striking out eight.
Jake Hiromoto provided the lone bright spot for Swift Current with a solo home run. The 57's dropped to 1-3 on the season and have now allowed 60 runs through their first four games.
Swift Current will look to bounce back Thursday night when they host the Weyburn Beavers.
