REGINA — A 29-year-old woman is facing several charges after a theft from a downtown business and an assault against a police officer while being processed at the police cells.
According to Regina police, on June 2, officers from the Downtown Safety Team were called to a report of a theft at a business in the 2100 block of 11th Avenue. Through their investigation, they learned a woman entered the business, stole a variety of clothing items and left without paying. Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect a short time later.
The suspect was taken to the Regina Police Service Detention Unit. During the intake process, she assaulted one of the officers. The officer was taken to the hospital to be assessed and was later released.
The woman appeared in Regina Provincial Court on June 3.
