One week into the 2026 CFL season, and there’s movement across the SportsCage.com CFL Power Rankings, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders remain on top.
The rankings, compiled by SportsCage.com contributors, saw Saskatchewan hold onto the No. 1 position despite a split of opinions among voters: the Roughriders, Montreal Alouettes and B.C. Lions were the only teams to receive first-place votes this week, though one ballot notably had Saskatchewan all the way down in seventh.
The biggest movers came from teams that opened the season with statement victories.
1. Saskatchewan Roughriders (Last Week: 1)
The Riders stay in the top spot before opening their regular season schedule at Mosaic Stadium. Saskatchewan remains the team to beat according to the majority of contributors, although Week 2 voting showed there’s less consensus at the top than there was a week ago.
2. Montreal Alouettes (Last Week: 2)
Montreal looked every bit like a contender in Week 1.
The Alouettes erased a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat Hamilton 30-27 in overtime in one of the most entertaining games of opening week. Quarterback Davis Alexander continued his remarkable start to his CFL career, throwing for 336 yards and two touchdowns while improving to 12-0 as a regular-season starter.
Robert Kennedy III’s pick-six sparked Montreal’s comeback before Alexander led a late tying drive and José Maltos Díaz delivered the game-winning kick in overtime.
3. B.C. Lions (Last Week: 3)
No movement for B.C., but the Lions remain firmly in the contender tier heading into their season opener. They also collected first-place support from contributors despite not yet taking the field.
4. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Last Week: 6)
Biggest rise of the week.
Winnipeg jumped two spots after escaping Calgary with a dramatic 30-28 victory. The Blue Bombers showed plenty of early-season polish and found a way to win on the final play in hostile territory.
If Week 1 was any indication, Winnipeg once again looks positioned to challenge near the top of the West Division.
5. Edmonton Elks (Last Week: 8)
Another major mover.
The Elks climbed three spots after defeating Ottawa 29-21 and earning their first season-opening victory since 2019.
Austin Mack and Justin Rankin found the end zone while kicker Vincent Blanchard was perfect, connecting on all five field goal attempts. Edmonton’s performance offered an early sign that this team could be more competitive than many expected entering the year.
6. Calgary Stampeders (Last Week: 5)
Calgary slipped slightly despite pushing Winnipeg to the final play. The Stampeders showed enough in defeat to remain in the middle of the pack, but couldn’t hold off the Bombers late.
7. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Last Week: 4)
The biggest fall of Week 2.
Hamilton drops three spots after letting a second-half lead slip away against Montreal. The Tiger-Cats appeared in control before the Alouettes seized momentum and completed the comeback.
The loss raises early questions, but Hamilton will look to regroup quickly.
8. Toronto Argonauts (Last Week: 7)
Toronto slides one spot without playing, largely because of movement around them rather than anything on the field.
9. Ottawa Redblacks (Last Week: 9)
No change at the bottom.
Ottawa opened the year with a home loss to Edmonton and will need a quick response to avoid falling behind early.

Week 1 delivered overtime drama, comeback wins and a couple of early surprises. Week 2 should start to give a clearer picture of whether those opening impressions are sustainable or simply opening-night theatre.
