MEADOW LAKE — Two men arrested on Buffalo River Dene Nation and charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences were remanded in custody after returning to court.
Deng Deng appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on June 8. His matter was adjourned to June 15 for a bail hearing. Kuol Kuol returns to court on May 20 via CCTV from the correctional centre.
The charges against Deng and Kuol, both 21 and from Calgary, stem from a Dec. 4, 2025, arrest after Dillon RCMP, assisted by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team, executed a search warrant at a home on Buffalo River Dene Nation. Police seized approximately 484 grams of cocaine, a large sum of cash, a loaded handgun with the serial number removed, and a rifle.
Both men face eight weapons-related charges, as well as possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Deng is additionally charged with possession of weapons contrary to a court order. Kuol faces four counts of failing to comply with release conditions and obstructing a peace officer.
