SASKATOON — A 27-year-old man was arrested at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre on June 9 and charged in connection with the city’s fourth homicide of 2026.
Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section arrested Richard Cross and charged him with manslaughter, unlawful confinement, assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon involving a sawed-off shotgun, uttering threats to cause death, aggravated assault, and multiple weapons related charges.
Court documents allege that Cross committed manslaughter by doing something that caused Curtis Clarke's death — specifically, jumping from a balcony.
Saskatoon police patrol officers had responded at approximately 3:45 a.m. on April 9 to Meadowgreen, in the 500 block of Avenue X South, for a report of an injured person. He was taken to hospital by Medavie Health Services West, where he was later pronounced dead.
Cross appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 10, where he was remanded to June 18. He was also ordered not to have contact with three people.
At the time of the offences, Cross was at large on a release order and failed to comply with its conditions, according to court documents.
