CANADA — Canadian consumers who use Lactantia’s UltraPūr 2% M.F. lactose-free dairy product need to double-check their two-litre cartons.
Lactantia issued a recall for the product due to over-fortification with Vitamins A and D. These vitamins are fat-soluble and, in the event of excessive buildup, may lead to toxicity.
At this time, only the two-litre cartons are being recalled, with a UPC of 0 68200 14854 0 and a best before date of JN 22. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product as well.
Those who have the recalled dairy products are to throw them out or return them to the location where they purchased. Do not consume, serve, use, sell or distribute recalled products, and if you think you have become sick from consuming the product, contact your healthcare provider.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products, and is verifying that all recalled products are removed from the marketplace.
