REGINA — A now 37-year-old man — whose name is protected as the alleged offence occurred when he was 17 — will be sentenced as a youth in the murder of Misha Pavelick.
The decision came down in Regina Court of King's Bench Monday afternoon. The sentence has been reserved, however, until Tuesday afternoon.
The man to be sentenced was the only suspect in Pavelick’s murder, which happened during a party with 100-plus attendees on May 21, 2006, at Kinookimow Beach on Last Mountain Lake. Pavelick was stabbed to death that night, and for almost two decades no leads were forthcoming in the case.
RCMP made their arrest on June 24, 2023, charging the man with second-degree murder.
