ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) is investigating a couple of collisions and an assault that were reported in recent days.
Members responded to a collision June 19 in which a bus reportedly struck a parked vehicle. The EPS said the matter remains under investigation.
EPS members responded to a domestic disturbance in the city centre area. The parties involved were spoken to and the EPS said the matter was mediated with one of the individuals leaving the scene without incident.
Police received a report of a fraud committed through a telephone lottery scam. It remains under investigation.
A complaint of an unwanted guest trespassing at a motel in central Estevan was investigated during the night shift. The EPS said a woman was located, issued a trespass notice and escorted off the premises without incident.
The EPS said members returning from training in Weyburn were the first responders at the scene of a residential fire in Macoun. Officers observed the fire from the highway. The EPS maintained scene security until Midale-Cymri and Estevan fire departments arrived.
Police received a report of a girl not complying with her court-ordered conditions. It remains under investigation and the EPS said charges are pending.
A vacant building in central Estevan was noted to have been damaged and entered. The EPS said members responded and did not locate anyone inside. The damages were reported to a property representative to have the building secured.
Police received a report June 20 of theft of fuel from a service station. The EPS said the individual filled their vehicle at the pumps and drove away without paying. Surveillance video of the individual and vehicle has been obtained and the matter remains under investigation.
Police attended to a residence in the Hillside area regarding an individual outside who was not appropriately dressed. The EPS said patrol and Police and Crisis Team (PACT) members spoke to the individual and cautioned him regarding his attire in public.
Officers received a report of an assault that occurred at the Estevan Comprehensive School graduation ceremony at Affinity Place late in the day shift. The EPS said the matter is still under investigation.
EPS members attended to a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Fifth Street and 13th Avenue. The EPS said minor injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene. The collision remains under investigation and additional witness statements are being sought.
A Report Impaired Drivers (RID) Line call was received regarding a blue Dodge Ram truck being operated erratically. The EPS said members located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, during which no signs of impairment were observed. The driver indicated that he was attempting to locate a business. He was cautioned regarding the observed driving actions.
A noise complaint at a motel in central Estevan was investigated during the night shift, which the EPS said resulted in a warning under the city noise bylaw for a guest.
EPS members attended to a complaint June 21 of a dog at large in the Valleyview area. The EPS said the animal was located and removed from the complainant’s property. The matter has been referred to the Estevan bylaw control officer for additional follow-up.
A warning under the noise bylaw was issued to a tenant, following what the EPS said was a report of suspicious noise coming from a residence in east Estevan.
Police assisted to keep the peace during an exchange of property between two former spouses. The EPS said ownership of several items was disputed and the individuals were advised to proceed through civil means to determine property rights.
A well-being check was conducted on a woman whose family was concerned about her safety. The EPS said she was found to be safe and well, and she was connected with PACT for additional support.
An RID call was received regarding a vehicle approaching Estevan. The EPS reported members located the vehicle and conducted a mandatory roadside breath test with a result of zero. No other signs of impairment were present and the driver was cautioned regarding the observed driving actions.
