YORKTON — Conservation officers (CO) are investigating after the death of an osprey near Katepwa Lake.
According to a message on the Sasktip Facebook page, on June 12, Fort Qu'Appelle COs received a call regarding an injured osprey along Highway 56 that was unable to fly. It was transported to Regina for rehabilitation.
The Sasktip information said X-rays taken revealed a metal pellet from an air-powered firearm was lodged in the bird's abdomen. The osprey later died and has been submitted for a necropsy.
Conservation officers are looking for information on who may have shot the protected bird of prey.
