ILE-A-LA-CROSSE — Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP have charged a man after two assaults in Île-à-la-Crosse.
On June 27 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP officers responded to a report of an assault in Île-à-la-Crosse.
Officers determined a woman had been assaulted in her vehicle by an individual with an edged weapon. She was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
Officers began patrolling the town to locate the suspect. Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP located and arrested a 34-year-old man a short while later.
The investigation determined another assault occurred in the community earlier that night. A man was assaulted while walking on Lajeunesse Avenue. He reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old man is charged with:
- one count, aggravated assault;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
- two counts, assault.
The accused is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Île-à-la-Crosse on June 29.
