PELICAN NARROWS – Pelican Narrows RCMP have charged two people after seizing firearms, illicit drugs and trafficking paraphernalia at a residence in Pelican Narrows.
On June 30, Pelican Narrows RCMP received a report that an individual was being forcibly confined in a residence.
Officers attended the residence and determined a man had assaulted an individual, who reported non-life-threatening injuries to police. The individual had also been prevented from leaving the residence.
Further investigation led to officers seizing two firearms, an imitation firearm, ammunition, approximately 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a small amount of fentanyl, cash and trafficking paraphernalia at the residence. A man and woman were arrested.
The man allegedly assaulted a police officer, and tried unsuccessfully to escape, during his arrest. The police officer was not seriously injured.
As a result of the continued investigation, a 36-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Pelican Narrows, are each charged with:
– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl);
– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine);
– two counts, careless storage of a firearm;
– two counts, unsafe storage of a firearm;
– two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
– two counts, carry a concealed weapon;
– two counts, possession of a firearm without a licence;
– one count, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition;
– one count, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000; and
– two counts, remove a serial number on a firearm.
The male suspect is also charged with:
– one count, assault;
– one count, unlawful confinement;
– one count, assault peace officer;
– one count, resist peace officer;
– two counts, possession of a firearm knowing its possession in unauthorized; and
– three counts, possession of a firearm while prohibited,.
They appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on July 2.
